Pato, Pato, Maricón

An original rap-opera musical with book and lyrics by Samora la Perdia and music by Andrew Abrahamsen.

Pato, Pato, Maricón is a vibrant coming-of-age story about masculinity, loyalty, and redefining what it means to belong.

Set in East Harlem, freshman Emilio enters high school only to be immediately met with a false rumor that he, like his two older queer siblings, is gay. As insults spread like wildfire, he’s forced to “come out” as straight while fiercely defending the brothers he loves. Caught between protecting his own identity and standing up for his family, Emilio discovers that courage isn’t about fitting a label, but choosing love and loyalty over fear.
